Nokia Interactive’s Mike Baker Finalist for Private Company CEO of the Year by Massachusetts Network Communications Council

10 Apr, 2008

April 10, 2008 – Nokia today announced that that Mike Baker, vice president and head of Nokia Interactive, was nominated as finalist for the Massachusetts Network Communications Council (MassNetComms) private company CEO of the Year for his work leading Enpocket, the mobile marketing enabler that was acquired by Nokia in October 2007. Enpocket is also nominated for Private Company of the Year.  The winners will be announced at the MassNetComms Awards Ceremony, which will be held April 16, 2008, at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge.

MassNetComms‘s finalists for CEO of the Year award are nominated by the public and then determined by a committee of members of the board of directors.  The other finalists for this award include EqualLogic and Maven Networks.  The winner is decided by vote of the MassNetComms membership and is presented to the CEO of a New England company who has gained the respect of his/her peers, employees, and others in the industry and who is recognized as an exceptional leader. As such, the CEO of the Year has often guided his/her company to success by providing the direction necessary to transform challenges (including rapidly changing technologies, fluctuating markets and economies, and workforce diversity) into opportunities.

Mike has spent his career building companies as an investor, entrepreneur and senior operating executive, with more than 20 years pioneering new digital media platforms. Mike’s career experience includes new media, financial technologies and Internet infrastructure, as well as online and behavioral targeting.

"By nominating Mike Baker as a finalist for the Massachusetts Network Communications Council's Private Company CEO of the Year, our board members are recognizing his outstanding role leading Enpocket to the top of the mobile ad technology services facilitating their acquisition by Nokia in September 2007,” said Mark Horan, executive director of MassNetComms.

Awards will also be presented to Public Company CEO of the Year, Public and Private Company of the Year, and Product of the year. (List below.)
